Volunteer Job Descriptions
50/50 Raffle (1 for first half at home meets only)
- Walk around selling raffle tickets
- Draw and announce winner after the first half of the meet
Clerk of Course (2 per half)
- Attends scratch meeting prior to the start of the meet
- Organizes swimmers for their heats and events in chairs/benches
- Writes event numbers on whiteboard so swimmers know what events they are seating
Concessions (2 per half for home meets only)
- Sell concessions during the meet
Head Timer (1 per half for home meets only)
- Attend timer meeting prior to the start of the meet
- Starts 2 back-up stopwatches for each event
Heat Ribbon Distributor (1 per half for home meets only)
- Hands our heat winner ribbon to winner of each race
Hospitality (1 per half for home meets only)
- Walks around with a cooler on wheels offering bottled water to coaches and volunteers
IT Helper/Scorer (1 per half)
- Works with lead IT to verify race times
- Posts race results
Ribbon Writer (1 for 2nd half only)
- Attaches stickers to ribbons
- Organizes ribbons in file folders
Runner (1 per half)
- Collects timer sheets and DQ sheets and delivers them to the IT table
Safety Marshall (1 per half)
- Wears safety vest
- Walks the pool deck and bathrooms enforcing safety rules for their entire shift
- Reports any concerts to team reps
Stroke and Turn Officials (2 positions per half)
- Requires preseason training
- Observe strokes, turns, and finishes to ensure swimmers comply with rules
- Records all disqualifications
Timer (9 positions per half)
- Attend timer meeting prior to the start of the meet
- Check to ensure they have the correct swimmer
- Uses stopwatch to time swimmers
- 3 timers per lane
- 1 timer per lane records all 3 times on the sheet provided
